PROJECT “CSOs Strengthening Regional Connections for Implementation of the WB Green Agenda”

The aim of the project, “CSOs Strengthening Regional Connections for Implementation of the WB Green Agenda,” is to facilitate networking and the exchange of best practices among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) within the country and with IPA/EU-based CSOs. This will be achieved by establishing citizen initiatives and platforms for structural collaboration. Specifically, the project will focus on identifying CSOs, their networks, partnerships, and coalitions active in the key areas of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB). An inventory of these CSOs and networks will be created and available on the project’s event landing page. A hybrid conference will also bring together national and regional policy decision-makers, prominent CSO representatives, and international organizations to discuss creating mechanisms to enable broad-based and integrated cross-sectoral collaboration to effectively engage CSOs in development, implementation, monitoring and reporting on the GAWB.

Overall objective(s):

Empowerment of the CSOs to be effective and accountable independent actors for dialogue with governments influencing policy and decision-making processes related to implementing the WB Green Agenda.

Specific objectives:

Enhanced the involvement of civil society in implementing an ambitious Green Agenda for the Western Balkans by strengthening CSOs’ regional connections.

Expected results:

The successful implementation of the Green Agenda requires a multi-stakeholder process. All key actors must actively participate in the Green Agenda policy development and implementation. Over the years, CSOs have proven to play an important and unique role among other stakeholders as they advocate for change and raise public awareness on existing challenges, provide services to meet social needs, act as experts given that they bring unique knowledge and experience to shape policy and strategy as well as identifying and suggesting solutions; contribute to capacity-building of various segments of society, and represent and give power to the voice of marginalised or underrepresented communities.

  • Strengthened regional connections of the “Green CSOs&Networks.”
  • Enhanced the involvement of civil society in implementing an ambitious Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
